The iMessage and FaceTime services available across Apple's platforms appear to be experiencing problems at the current time, with some users unable to send messages and make FaceTime calls.

There are a number of tweets about the issue on Twitter, and Apple's System Status page is listing an ongoing outage. The feature is not down for all users as of now, but Apple says that the service is unavailable for some and has been down since 11:48 a.m. Eastern Time.

Update 12:55 p.m Eastern Time: According to Apple's System Status page, the outage has been resolved.

Yeah also messages aren't synching properly across devices even when they do send.

I must have forgotten to pay for this month's iMessage+.
I think the syncing issue has been around since the day iMessages appeared. I've got five computers, my iPhone, and four iPads. Not a single device matches up. I gave up trying years ago.

just proves imessage isn’t end to end encrypted if it requires apple servers
Encryption doesn't work like this. Encryption is encapsulating messages within packets end to end in a way that it can't be read directly, it does not go directly from your phone/ipad/mac to someone elses phone/ipad/mac directly without any need to use Apple services.

Whew. My messages were failing to send. Had a feeling I'd see this on the MR front page. Glad it's not just me. Annoying, though, those gremlins!
