So I use Messages in iCloud and I find it great because I don't like deleting messages and it seems to work seamlessly.
It's my understanding that everything (messages and attachments) is stored in the cloud.
I have about 150GB in the cloud, and my devices tend to have ~9GB of Messages stored locally. I am absolutely clueless how all of this works but always thought its only recent messages.
I was just digging into an iOS backup using iMazing and found I can access all of my messages and attachments going back nearly 10 years seamlessly.
How is all this data available in the iOS backup when it is supposed to be in iCloud and theoretically only 9GB is on-device and therefore backed up? Am I only seeing low-resolution copies of attachments?
