Can't get the predictive emoji's to work. They aren't appearing in the suggestions, despite turning on Predictive in the keyboard options :-\

Having the same problem. all the settings are right but no predictive emojis. Not that i use emojis a lot but just interested to try just can't get it to work.

So much for English. Lets communicate with hieroglyphics instead. If anyone starts sending this crap to me they're gunna get deleted off my contacts list and banned.

Words, a dying language.

Haha watching this makes me feel like I'm truly an old man now.

WHY DON'T PEOPLE JUST USE WORDS! Its seriously slower for me to read emoji! I'm like is that a guy praying? Or holding his hands out? What does that even mean?

Old I tell you.

It apparently needs to have the Emoji keyboard downloaded in your list, even if you don't need to switch to it to have predictions. Not a very good implementation as these predictions should come even without having yet another keyboard to toggle on.

What do you mean sorry? Not working for me either

Same here. Works on my iPhone 6 but does not work on my iPad Pro 9.7" ... I have enabled predictive text, removed/added Emoji keyboard, Reset keyboard dictionary, it just will not work. All while hard rebooting the iPad. Only the Emoji suggestions work if I select the Emoji keyboard after I am finished typing my message.

I think this is a bug. There is nothing I have missed.

Good lord, God forbid people have fun with their text messages. It's not like they're submitting an essay to the New York Times, they're seeing if their friend wants to go out and do something. some people take life way too seriously.

If someone text me with all these emojis, I will block this person right away. As grown up, emoji is not for us.
So as an adult we're not allowed to have fun?

I meant that if I don't have the Emoji keyboard added to my keyboard list (English, Emoji, etc.), the predictive function for suggesting an Emoji after typing a word does not work. However, upon further testing, it seems this function only works in the Message app, not in Notes or Mail. So it is even more useless than I thought.

Doesn't work for me anywhere. Works for my wife. We both have 6s+. lol. I've tried the whole, turn off/on prediction, remove/re-add emoji keyboard - restart.

In iOS 10, Apple is making it even easier to use emojis with an all-new replacement and predictive system that replaces key words and phrases with relevant emoji characters. Although still short of a full-featured search functionality -- which many have asked for -- the new emoji replacement ability turns text messages into emoji-filled communications that are fun alternatives to basic blocks of text.

Using Emoji Replacement

To insert a few emojis into texts for yourself, follow these steps:

How-To-Emoji-3-800x218.jpg

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Tap on the person you want to chat with.
  3. Type a message as normal, but don't hit the send arrow yet.
  4. Long-tap on the Globe icon to bring up your list of installed keyboards, and choose "Emoji."
  5. Tap any orange-highlighted word directly in your text message to turn it into an emoji. If no highlighted words appear, Apple didn't find any potential emoji replacement opportunities in your message.
  6. Tap the send arrow when you're finished.
Some emojis have multiple potential keywords, and for these you'll be presented with a pop-up box where you choose the emoji you want to use. The word "confused," for example, is associated with both the "confused" and "neutral" faces.

Why Why These Emojiss Look Like This

Is there a list that documents the replacements or suggestions, especially the ambiguous ones? At least for English and ASCII emoticons like :‌) :) or ;‌) ;)

PS: Someone already asked for a Text to Emoji Glossary.

1️⃣ True Story!!
2️⃣ Emoji users have more sex!!! “...54% of emoji users had sex compared to 31% of singles who did not,” Dr. Helen Fisher at Rutgers Univ. (I’m 50+ use emojis & verify this is True Story! All )
3️⃣ It’s not legal/formal ✍️. It’s a quick msg.

The human race is becoming dumber.
Possibly but not due emojis. They’re genius. Best thing to happen to male Gen X’ers since female Gen Y’ers!!
