Messages on Ipad

Check the notifications settings as a first step.
Why would you even suspect this to be an iPad issue (hardware issue)?
[doublepost=1528192692][/doublepost]The same thing happened to me. Your Iphone will pick up messages from your Iphone number AND your email address. Your iPad is probably not set up to get messages sent to your Iphone number. In Messages in Settings, check the Send & Receive and make sure that your iPhone number is listed under ‘YOU CAN BE REACHED BY IMESSAGE AT’. I also have both devices set to start new conversations from my iPhone number, including the +1 country code and the rest of your ten digit iPhone number. I think I had to logout and log back in with my Apple ID. You have to do it in a certain order. It was a long time ago but I think the Google instructions were pretty good.
I do get the messages from iPhone to iPad but what happens the counter had (2) issues.
(1 )it would not give me alert that I have the message.or how many.

2 The message counter had (3) on it. But would not subtract the deleted messages it’s just stuck now at three
