So I have been using the messages app no problem. It's syncing my iCloud contacts no problem. Only thing is that the contact photos are not correct. Not entirely sure where they are pulling the image from. If I uncheck iCloud contact sync, the names in Messages returns to their phone number but still has the wrong image there.

Re-syncing iCloud contacts brings the name back but not the correct photo. There are some photos correct, ones that are newer contacts in my phone.

Just wondering if anything else has seen this.

Thanks!

Yeah, gotcha. I've had it going on for a while. Tried a little. Just no success on getting it fixed.

Thanks!

Some of them it does. But even if I remove all contacts & contacts sync accounts. The ones in question still remain in Messages, just this time with their respective numbers instead of names.

Syncing the accounts back in, brings the names back for everyone. But the old wrong image still stays.

If you have Facebook or LinkedIn accounts set up in the system, sometimes it pulls their preferred name and image from online instead of what you sent it to locally. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.

No I don't have those connected. The images that are there, I had once applied to their contact. But have since replaced it with another once. It's the new one on my phone, the Mac just seems stuck.

Try deleting all the contents of this folder (after you make a copy of it and compress it, just in case):
/Users/***YOUR-USER-NAME***/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

You will have to re-sync your address book from iCloud, because you effectively removed everything related to address book from your computer when you deleted those files.

Thanks! Removed the files, it did appear to remove everything from contacts and the messages photo that wouldn't be removed. But now deactivating and reactivating won't sync the contacts back. Do you think I will need to fully remove the iCloud account from the Mac and re-add it?

Edit: Or rather, it will only sync the default "Apple Inc." card and my person card, but only empty.

You shouldn't have to completely deactivate iCloud... try restarting the Mac and give it several minutes before opening address book/messages.

Yes! Thanks! I had just walked away for a bit and when I came back it had eventually managed to sync the iCloud contacts back!
