Text messages (threads) are sorted by date/time received with the newest on top in the messages app.

However previously, when deleting the most recent messages in a thread, the thread would be moved downwards in the list corresponding to most recent message left in the thread after the deletion. This appears to be changed i IOS 8, where the thread is still located according to the time of the last received message in the thread, even if this message is deleted.

Do know if I make sense. Any solution to this?

Some people have noticed this. While it could be some bug, it's quite possible that Apple changed how they treat this, as in even if you delete a message from a thread it still leaves it in the right position relative to the time there was last activity in that thread (even if you locally deleted that last activity).

my 'search' at the top doesn't work at all in messages... used to be fine, but won't recognise anyone. And the spotlight doesn't find anything in my phone at all, only web searches come up now.
