Messages: Too many emojis has frozen a chat - help

Hi All,

My overexcited son has sent me a few emoji-packed messages, which means I can't open that thread in messages (on iOS 18 / iPhone 16 Pro), and it has trashed the entire messages app on my M1 laptop.

I will delete the offending messages from his iPad, but I wondered if another fix exists. I am quite surprised it is that simple to cause an issue - especially as we enter an era of genmoji, etc.
