Messages won't let me log in!

On 10.10.5 Yosemite, I restarted, and Messages now won't let me log in. It keeps telling me doesn't recognize the password. I miss Messages. ; I have my Apple id for iTunes, and it works fine. i just used it. (that's the same right?) Thank you sincerely for any response.

Well...this could be one of several things. First, perform an NVRAM reset, try logging in again, and report back.

Hi, thank you. I just did the reset, and have the same problem. Tell me please, which password does it require? Is it the same as my iTunes? Because I can use that just fine.

I enabled a new account, seems to be fine again. Thank you.
