So I've got an AW2 and I get the notifications from messenger on my watch but I can't always read them. It's like the app crashes. So end up getting my phone out which defeats the object!

Anyway I've used Google and tried the fix with changing an auto response. Works for a while and then goes back to not working.

I've tried force quit and unpairing and repairing and again out works for a while and then stops working again.

I'm getting frustrated, is it a watch issue or an app issue?

Assuming that you are talking about the FB Messenger, mine has not worked since I got my AW2 but it worked fine on my first Watch a couple years back. Still doesn't work right...

Doesn't sync right, it shows messages from last year and nothing current from today or yesterday.

I have the AW0 (with the latest watchOS) and while I get notifications for my facebook messages every time I open the messenger app it takes at least 5 minutes to load all the new messages

I've been having the same problem with FB Messenger app on my Series 0, the app loads but just a blank screen for several minutes until it finally loads messages. Must be a buggy app.

Was there ever a fix for this?

I will get notifications for Facebook Messenger when I get a message but think that's a standard notification because of my phone

However the app on the AW just refuses to load up this is all I get:

Yea... the watch app has been worthless more than a year. The menu that shows all your friends’ messages to you after you get a notification and it takes a ridiculous amount of time while every single person’s messages sync from months back until current and the screen turns off before it finishes syncing and it’s a waste of time at that point.

I don’t think its the watch’s fault, it is FB because they update the messenger app almost every week and they break portions of the app at the same time.

The messenger only properly worked with watch OS 1.0 with my first watch 2 years back and not since.

I got mine to work after deleting a ton of old group threads and deleting a pending message from a person I had not yet added as a friend. I’m not sure which one did the trick but my messenger messages started to appear. My guess was deleting almost all my existing group threads.

Gadzooks! It’s been broken for 2+ years? I didn’t believe you until I just checked it. Very surprised until they release another messenger update in a week and it’ll likely break the watch part again. It worked perfectly when it first came out on the original watch but they quickly broke it until today.

iPhone is on iOS 12 beta 3, Apple Watch is on watch OS 5 beta 4 - and fb messenger does not work with these versions for me. However, the app load does not get stuck in an endless loop: it displays the rotating screen, then a "loading messages" message, then something else really fast before it ends and goes back to the app layout view.
All this to say - t is hopeful to me that it is now doing something different and will hopefilly work once iO 12 ad watch OS 5 are out of beta.

I wouldn't count on it! This watch app has been left broken for so long, I'm surprised they haven't just taken it off the main app.
