It will have to be “very cheap” — Health and safety, sore necks, strained eyesight, Hairstyles? HAIRSTYLES?

This is an example of the pretentious analysis one finds here. No metrics. No Data. Navel gazing.

Run for your lives!! A “barrier to Social interaction” is coming for you!

I urge career driven knowledge workers to ignore this uninformed tripe. You should be running as fast as you can to the future. (It will be messy, ugly in places, requiring ongoing continuing education and an open mind to break through to value.). Listen to the tripe above at your peril.

I didn’t say it was my stance but one that is undoubtedly part of the working world especially for those of us that are office based.

You are so incredibly rude here to anybody that shares a point of view that does not align with your own, it’s totally unnecessary and disgusting

VR is for lunkheads that can't handle 'real' reality. And so are games.

Look at what games have helped spawn, generations obsessed with trivia that can't distinguish between truth and lies. VR will drive more of that delusion. Humanity will be further divided into two camps, those that believe in fairyland, aka "the meta verse", and the rest of us that just roll our eyes.

The solution is to embrace reality. Veritas Omnia Vincet. VR is not real; it is just a tool of dubious value looking for a killer use case. And since the so-called "metaverse" has Zuckerberg's sticky fingers all over it nobody with half a brain would touch it with a ten foot barge pole.

I agree with much of this post. Yet Zuckerberg’s “Meta” will not be the dominant force in the alternate reality universe —-As others have noted there will be many Virtual islands— no one size fits all.— Still I’m glad Zuckerberg is out there flailing and shouting and floundering about. The transition to this as yet indescribable place will not be smooth.— So what? Bring it.

Computing, in particular software, should be a faithful servant of humankind. What you refer to as "the alternate reality universe" I fear will become a dystopian hell, created- and inhabited by people infected with varying dubious motivations and acting-out accordingly.

We've been heading down that road for a while now. For those who are concerned about this all we can do is observe and call it as we see it.
