Who would ever buy these knowing Meta/Facebook.
I never thought I would see under the specs of sunglasses:
—Polarizing lenses
—Blocks UV rays
—Surveillance to block any chance of privacy

I guess I’m getting old because I no longer yearn for such technological “advancements.” It seems to me most of us would be better off with tech less integrated into our lives rather than more—I know I would.
It always depends on your profession and aspirations as a human being.

Easy examples:

- If you’re a very productive and competitive tech professional or creative

- You want to have an active role in contexts where conveniently able to capture moments but still be present hands-free is a huge benefit (action sports, cycling, dancing environments like dance halls, and so on)

- More conveniently multitasking hands free or spatially

Especially since it's becoming really hard to find tech that isn't infested with awful business incentives.

Jikes. Sounds like a EU privacy nightmare. I wonder if it's even legal to use these in the UAE as well since it's illegal to record or take photos of strangers.

People wearing these in public should be required to carry a sign like "YOU ARE BEING RECORDED WITHOUT CONSENT. TO DECLINE, PLEASE PUNCH ME IN THE FACE" just like CCTV needs to have a sign on public places, that they are recording already

More realistically, they should be forced to install a relatively large blinking red "recording" LED right on the bridge of those fugly frames.

Very disappointing but not at all surprised considering the product is from Meta. Waiting for Apple to launch a similar product.

If you choose not to own and wear these Meta Ray-Ban glasses, that’s your personal decision. Easy to do. But, when you’re out and about in public around others who are wearing these glasses, you become the “data” that’s being collected, and you have no way of controlling that (yet). I am sure there are enterprising individuals out there who could invent a small device you carry on your person that would jam any Meta Ray-Ban glasses (or others) in your proximity and prevent them from collecting you as data. Or, perhaps alter the data enough so you appear as a green iguana wearing an aloha shirt.

Turning off Meta AI entirely on the Ray-Ban glasses and using manual controls for snapping photos and videos is the best method to ensure that Meta isn't collecting excessive data.
The best method is never buying those and carrying a long stick to keep any Ray-Ban wearing person from trying to have a conversation with you.
