It probably is not the threat of a parent suing that is the problem, it is more than likely an insurance carrier for something like an errors and omissions policy that insists on the school/district having the rule.

I know someone who is using Ray-Ban meta glasses to help her navigate. She is fully vision-impaired and a device that helps her (even if only somewhat) navigate a physical world, even with only partial information is a winner!
Don't think 2 million meta ray ban sold is too bad considering how many ray ban models there are.
If it's like the raybans, there won't be a HUD; it interacts through its speakers. But HUDs will be on the cards in the future i'm sure.

It's not about tech it's about people using tech. If you wanna be a creep you can do it much better with your iPhone.
This actually highlights a interesting problem for apple.
By any metric, a product that sells 2M units in 2 years for about half a billion dollars in revenue would be considered a hit for any normal company.
But when apple sell only 2M units of anything it's considered a flop.
People have come to expect that anything apple puts out needs to penetrate large chunks of the world's population and turn out billions of dollars in the first couple years at high margins or it's a waste of time, which just stifles any sort of will to go out and do anything new.
The iphone is wildly successful; and it's like having that overachieving older sibling that just makes anything you accomplish seem like trash so you don't bother.
Until people (and shareholders) start accepting that it's ok to make low margin or low volume niche products like the AVP or iphone mini, apple is pretty much going to be stuck in that local maxima.
Both of those functions only require discreet AirPods or similar, with superior audio and NC.

That's true but wearing glasses plus earphones is too much for me. AirPods are not discrete.

And secondly, look at this sibling product…much cheaper than your creepy Zuckerberg glasses that you apparently don’t use to covertly record video of your preferred sex in very little clothing.
