Forgive me for being a "cabbagehead" for a moment.

With Metal, does it basically amount to "You have a supported Mac for El Cap, so here's Metal" or is there a minimum graphics card requirement for Metal usage?

Any help is appreciated as Yosemite is a POS and while I'd love to do the upgrade, it might not be worth it if there's a minimum requirement.

@MysticCow

The requirements for Metal are higher than that of El Capitan itself.
I do not recall the specifics, but any Mac made within the last three years should support Metal without problems.

Macs made from 2012 (Ivy Bridge) onwards support Metal. But don't worry if you have an older machine - El Capitan will work, it's just that developers may not be able to enable all of the new El Capitan features for your machine when they update their apps. You will still benefit from any and all other El Capitan benefits, such as the new features, optimizations or new drivers.

Crap...

My Mid 2011 mini with the Radeon graphics will be left out of the Metal party. :(
