Hello!

I'm trying to figure out the different ways we can charge through the One Port.

Is it possible to charge the 12" MacBook using this configuration?
USB port ---> USB-A to USB-A (male-male) cable ---> Apple USB-C to USB adapter -> MacBook

Hopefully somebody who has actually tried this can answer.

We've already got the Apple adapter, but a USB-A to A cable is only $1 and prevalent, versus $10 for a USB-A to C and harder to find in some parts of the world.

I imagine there are other ways to charge as well - I read you can charge from one MacBook to another with the USB-C charge cable.

You can charge the MacBook, but it will be a lot slower as USB-A supports only 12W vs. the 29W of the USB-C charger. It works in a pinch, but USB-C is better.

Thanks! I figured it would be slower. Some charging will be better than no charging when only a USB-A port is available.

I previously had mine connected to a USB 3.0 port on my main box to let it charge overnight (with a USB-A to USB-C cable). It is slower, but it is nice to have one less thing plugged into the wall.
