iPads aren't locked, so you don't need an iPad purchased from any specific carrier to use it with them.
I see that Metro offers a $15 2GB plan.
Can I assume that one needs T MOBILE iPad to use the sim?
ALSO - if the Metro sim works in TMO devices how about the TMO MiFi?
I am really mystified by this. Metro has some nicely-priced tablet plans. However, unlike the phone plans, Metro will not activate a BYOD tablet. They will only activate tablets they sell, which consists of one crummy Alcatel 7" tab. I was really hoping to use an iPad Air on the $15 2GB plan.
IIRC, no iPad has ever been locked.I believe this began with ipad Air. All subsequent models are unlocked.

Not true. My first ipad circa 2010 was carrier locked.IIRC, no iPad has ever been locked.

As someone said above, only iPads sold in Japan were "locked" to a carrier, but even then they were still unlocked to international carriers. Not true. My first ipad circa 2010 was carrier locked.
No iPad has ever been locked to Verizon.Weren't Verizon iPads simless? That would make them locked to Verizon.

Not true... I had an iPad 2 back in the day with Verizon cell radio and it did NOT have a SIM card or slot...No, all iPads always had SIM cards, and were always unlocked. You are thinking about the early Verizon iPhones.
Not true... I had an iPad 2 back in the day with Verizon cell radio and it did NOT have a SIM card or slot...
Yeah, the 3G iPad 2 for Verizon lacked a SIM slot because Verizon doesn't use SIM cards for 3G.I know Verizon didn't use SIM cards back then, but are you sure it didn't have a SIM card slot?
In any case, those iPads weren't locked to Verizon -- if another company used the same cellular system as Verizon, then they could be used with that other company.
Thanks. That's what I thought. I remember having the Verizon iPad 2 and no SIM card or tray for it. Wouldn't that mean it is locked to Verizon for data?Yeah, the 3G iPad 2 for Verizon lacked a SIM slot because Verizon doesn't use SIM cards for 3G.
