Apple plans to open a store at the Mítikah shopping mall in the south of Mexico City, according to a recently-deleted page on real estate company Allux's website.

Apple Vía Santa Fe in Mexico City

The page listed Apple as a future tenant in the mall, which is set to expand into an adjacent area previously occupied by the older Centro Coyoacán shopping mall. It is unclear when Apple's store would open, and the plans could change.

It is unclear why the page was deleted, but Apple has a culture of secrecy.

Apple has two other stores in Mexico City — one is inside the Vía Santa Fe shopping mall, and the other is at the Antara open-air shopping center.

Apple Vía Santa Fe opened in 2016, and Apple Antara followed in 2019.

(Thanks, José!)

Great that they’ll open another Apple Store in Mexico, but why Mexico City again? the country is pretty large, and in most of it people are screwed with just the premium resellers (ishop, macstore). Mexico city isn’t all of Mexico.

I suspect that Apple wants to preserve the resellers. I mean, there’s no good reason that Antea in Querétaro—second largest mall in all of Latin America—doesn’t have an Apple Store.

Happy for Mexico that they are getting a third store but come on Apple, not a single Apple Store in the entire country of Ireland - Dublin and cork are crying out for Apple stores.

I guess we’re good enough to funnel billions through and to have your EU HQ here, but not good enough to have a store ?

This is good news for CDMX, that new store will be more convenient for me than Via Sante Fe is. I am surprised there is not one downtown

wasn't that Monterrey...? Either way, they both should get an Apple Store...

Glad to hear Apple is opening more stores around the world. Reaching customers and potential customers is a great strategy to market the products and providing customer services on what they need!! Wish the best for the store!

Blame your tax system. This is quite literally why. Apple opening a store there for little in return sales wise would be only a loss for them and expose their entire Ireland tax setup into question. It was long a reason why Apple also didn't have stores in India either...

No problem with preserving them, but having them as the only option is bad. They offer a poor experience when it comes to diagnostic and repairs, and not the best in sales (their stock is heavily limited compared to official Apple stores). Not to mention that traveling to Mexico City isn’t really feasible anymore for people in the rest of the country, including those living in “nearby” cities such as Puebla, Cuernavaca, Toluca, Queretaro or Pachuca.
