So that's why Barbara Bush has spent so much time at the swimming events, she wants what her sister missed out on :D

12,000 Seems to be about the norm for lots of Americans :D

Except they sit in front of the TV watching things other than Billy Banks Tae Bo for 5 hours.

I believe I saw this on GMA this morning.
I wanted to hurl... lol

12k probably isn't that much considering that he spend 5 or more hours a day in a pool swimming while training.
Hell, Imagine how much he burns while competing. Boy needs his energy.

Yep- I do over 3,000 a day, but I'm at the gym 3 days a week. 12,000- that's a lot of time spent on physical activity. And look at the guy, he's using what he takes in. Who wouldn't want that body?

The guy looks like a frickin' bird in that photo. He has freakishly long arms. Wow.

Oh, and mofo likes to eat. If he's treating, I'd like to eat a few meals with him. ;) I don't know how I'd avoid the cramps before swimming, though.

I'd like something a bit more in proportion to be honest. He's one hell of an athlete, but that body shape of his is a bit strange to look at.

Still, I'm sure all those gold medals keep him from worrying on that front :D

I thought my friend who takes around 4,000 calories a day thanks to his weights training took a lot!

Anyone notice that an article that says a DUI is a convicted "drink-driver" shouldnt really be taken seriously?

I mean, sure, research done, well written, whatever. But DRINK driving?

I am probably less than 2.5K calories a day. Shesh, he eats more at breakfast than I do all day.. But then again I am a 135-140lbs kid who runs I should start bulking up so I can actually run better hahaha

Isn't he also just like 21-22? At first I thought I miss read and they were talking about George W. Bush...

That's quite a feast.
Cool photo and article. It is surprising how many calories the body can go through during physical activity.

On a personal note, I went home to the farm over the holidays for two weeks including 3 days travel time, so I was there 11 days. I ate wonderful home cooked food, and lot's of it. I mean lots. I would venture to say my calorie count was well over double of my usual intake. And in doing normal farm work and activities, I lost 10 pounds in those 11 days. Unbelievable.

With all his body size and physical activity due to training, I am not surprised that he requires that many calories just to stay even.

And now I am hungry and it's bedtime. ;)

Well those long arms come in handy when he's just a few inches behind the guy with normal arms.

EDIT: I believe that he is 6' 4" tall, and his wingspan is 6' 7".

Don

Don't worry, you don't need it for running. You see fat/overweight people run marathons all the time, and in pretty decent time. You get a lot skinnier from running, but you do hit a wall in terms of weight loss.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that 'drink-driving' is UK english for drunk driving.
