iPhone 7/Plus Microphone problems with iphone7

Microphone problems with iphone7.

If I go into voice memos, the microphone doesn't come up when the red button is pressed.
When I go into the microphone option in google the message comes up - microphone not found.
When I plug in earphones and mic in the lightning port, the sound continues to come out of phone speakers, ignoring the earphones and mic.

And the earphone mic work fine on my other iphone.
The lightning port is fine because phone charges ok with the port.

i did a soft reset - didn't work.
i did a hard reset - didn't work.

The phone was restored to factory settings recently - not sure if same problems existed before the restore.
Any suggestions?

Sometimes apple gets my head

Same phone can't find the speakers on bluetooth but bluetooth can send pics on airdrop.

Yes, Delfie, I think you are correct regarding the microphone, and how, as most in the thread suggested - it wasn't really fair of apple waiving the fee for fixing the problem due to their ios update then changing their mind on the waiver).

(btw I didn't see anyone in the thread mention the bluetooth problem - of it being able to airdrop photos but not find speakers.)

Maybe related, maybe not. Get the phone fixed, see if that solves the BT problem.

One poster on the thread https://www.macrumors.com/2018/05/04/apple-aware-of-iphone-7-mic-issue-ios-11-3/ said it cost $300+ to fix the mic prob caused by the ios update.
Apple support made an appointment to have a tech look at it but $300+ to repair an iphone7 doesn't make sense considering it's being offered on ebay for $45.
