my built in microphone works via facetime, skype but it does not work when I want to record on voicethread. I also when I use my sentry headphone speaker, I hear from the head phones but not if I record through the microphone. I went to the utilities and none of my buttons are blue & I am not able to move the slider on the microphone input. PLEASE HELP!!!
 
Are you sleeting the microphone in System Preferences->Sound pane or by holding down the 'option' key while clicking the sound icon in the Finder menu bar?
