Anyone else using Edge (MAC silicon version) and finding it very laggy on certain websites? Facebook seems to be an easily repeatable example.

I've tried both released Version 116.0.1938.81 (Official build) (arm64) and Beta Version 117.0.2045.27 (Official build) Beta(arm64)

Lag within Edge isn't exclusive to the Mac versions. I've seen it happen with multiple Windows machines, even higher-end configurations.

Confirm. I gave Edge a really good shake for 6 months exclusively and have just gone back to Chrome. Edge just tries to do too much and the UI is too busy. Chrome is just faster and cleaner in everyday usage.

.....but it's been great for me under Ventura, just laggy when clicking things under Sonoma, a definite change in behaviour/responsiveness.

This has been an absolute dog on windows since the last update as well. Are you sure it's not coincidental?
It was the same version I was using Monday on Ventura that I'm using now. If, for example, I click a tab in gmail it takes a few seconds to switch, if I click an image on a Facebook chat that also takes seconds to appear. Both were as good as instant under Ventura.

Seems ok in Safari.....might have to give Chrome a try! There was a good reason I switched away from Chrome though as a few things broke last time I was using it!!

**edit** to add the only new thing I've added is the Chrome/Edge iCloud passwords extension....wonder if it's that?

confirmed as being the extension I reckon!

Rather than "giving Chrome a try" why not try Brave? Unlike Chrome, which is known to tracker users and for data mining, Brave is a lean version of Chromium, based on Chrome without the detrimental Google aspects. It has a Rewards option that you can turn off to make it even leaner.
At the Github site, https://github.com/brave/, click on the blue "brave-browser" top left, and then on the blue "Latest version" lower right, to access the various optimized builds (arm64, etc). There is a universal version available also, at https://brave.com/.
