Yes, I shouldn't use Microsoft stuff but hey... 🙂

I use Edge on my Mac Mini and I've noticed it uses 100% (one whole core if I understand right?) after a while.
Looking at the Browse Task Manager, Edge behaves ok for a while even with many tabs open. The "Browser" line goes down to almost zero when I'm not actively browsing.

Then at some point it goes to 100%+ and stays there even if I close Edge from the red button - it only starts behaving again if I close it from the taskbar and open it again. The same can be seen in Activity Monitor BTW.

Is someone seeing this as well? I am on Version 144.0.3719.92 (Official build) (arm64)

Thanks!

yes i have noticed this as well recently but have not had time to investigate. Restart and its fine. Then after a while it returns to 100% continous. Next time I'll look at the browser processes. Good to know its not just myself.

Great, thanks for confirming. It likely means someone else will need to fix it! 😀

I haven't identified a specific webpage causing it - in any case the other day I walked away from the mac while the processes were fine and when I came back some time later the processes were 100% - so whatever it is, it doesn't happen straight away.

Thanks again for your input!

Just had it occurring again. Checked the Browser task Manager and the only thing showing high CPU was the browser itself non of the tabs. My Edge just updated from 92 to 104 so I guess I will see if it is still occurring and if it is probably swap to chrome for the next 6 months.

@tommiy

Yes, I see the same. It behaves for a few hours then something gets stuck and runs at 100% all the time while individual tabs are fine. It looks like some internal process misbehaving.

yesterday I had a gazillion tabs opened for many hours but the "Browser" resource tab didn't jump to 100%, in fact it was close to zero when not using the web. Edge is still at the same version, I'm not sure what might have been changed or what is triggering it.

Hi there,

what build do you use?

I just installed Edge a few moments ago and I didn't noticed at all what you are talking about.

Version 144.0.3719.115

Perhaps you may reset Edge?

Ah there is an update now. I didn’t think of checking for an update, I’m on the version mentioned above.

For the issue to happen it doesn’t take a few moments though. It might be ok for 2 hours and then suddenly ’Browser’ gets stuck at 100%.

Hi Tony,

Perhaps this may the cause. Alternative: Try to reset Edge and / or remove some old plugins. This may also help. Remember that once an old Silverlight plugin caused many troubles. Or Adobe Flash? I can't remember.
