Midwest!
Has anyone had any issues with Edge? I need a browser besides safari for one application and it was Chrome, Edge and I believe Firefox and I know I don't want chrome.

I've just been trying it tonight.
I used the Canary version as I'm on an M1.
It comes in an installer package so is straightforward to install. It's almost 700MB in size.
Unfortunately MR seems to have had some problems tonight. Problems were evident on both ME and Safari, so I can't blame Edge for that :)
Other sites were loading very quickly and the whole feeling was one of speed (with an ad blocker).

Good to hear that.

The Beta (updated approx every 6 weeks) and developer (updated every week) versions also have M1 support. I am running the developer version.

In fact, the stable version is universal. I like to use it to watch YouTube. For some reason, some videos only play 720 on safari but play 1080 on Edge.

Edge is a CPU utilization pig on M1 when watching YouTube. Back to Chrome.

Edge is fine on Windows 10 and is my backup browser but on M1 watching YouTube 4K it was like double the CPU utilization at ~25% compared to Chrome M1. Plus, Edge doesn't have 8K option. Good enough for nubs I guess.

Running the release version for few weeks now, before had the Canary and Dev version. Using Edge over one month now and really love the experience. Smooth, Fast and Secure. Is my Standard browser on the MBP M1 sinds the Canary silicon version.

Well for me it isn't! Far from that. I can watch Hours of Youtube or Netflix or whatever online video.... and it's super efficient on my MBP M1.

I don't know why, but when I try to install the M1 version of Edge on my M1 MacBook Air, it asks to install Rosetta. I've downloaded the installation file more than once, but the end result is always the same. I use the Edge browser at my work and really like it. Do you know how to overcome this bug?

Just a guess, but maybe something associated with the installer needs Rosetta. You might install it and see what Activity Monitor shows for the architecture for "Microsoft Edge". Mine shows "Apple".

Isn't it normal for resources to be used during an update? What happens after the update, does CPU and mem utilization settle down?
There is no need to have Microsoft Updater installed. Why not doing like other browsers??

I don't want any stuff within my launch agents running all the time. no need to.

I installed Edge for a better web experience with Office 365 apps (corporate email) and now use it in preference to Chrome. Overall I think I slightly prefer Microsoft to Google when it comes to my data. Otherwise, I use Safari most of the time, on my Mac. I will take a look at Brave. On iPad I use the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser but that is not available for desktop.

That is not a bug. If you are not installing the M1 native version of Edge, it will require Rosetta 2 to run.

Make sure to install the M1 native version of Edge if you are on M1. And mine does not have a separate updater. And remember Gruber is notorious for clickbait type stuff he does to get people to listen to his podcast and watch his videos.
