Is anyone else excited about 2024 coming out on Tuesday?
Can't wait! The terrain looks incredible, seen the comparisons of Grand Canyon vs 2020 Grand Canyon...it's amazing. New trees & foliage...that actually change with seasons. Sky looks better.

I also love how you can simply get out of the plane and walk around. (Why do I think many will live stream themselves walking from NYC to Chicago ...just for fun & giggles?? LOL!)

Awesome that the 2020 add ons will....or SHOULD work with this new '24 version. This guy imported his ATV "Juice Goose" into 2024...this is wild!

Now...do I expect bugs or ugh, poss. major issues on release day?? Eh..maybe? Possibly even likely for some. But hopefully any issues will get a quick fix!

MY personal worry...since GBs of the terrain, all scenery is mostly coming from their ASOBO, MS cloud servers, can my internet handle it? I have no idea to be honest.

I guess "major issues on release day" was an understatement.
Still a mess tonight, day 2.

I DID have a good flight around 5pm ET, brief...but no issues. This was sadly short lived. Next flight around 5:30pm...the new Beluga I was itching to try was a mess, no sound to the aircraft, sim - the screen froze after 2, 3 minutes. Then another total crash, restart (thankfully, the loading screen is not too long like 2020)..

Next flight, Airbus I lost all controls, nothing responding, eventually the Sim screen froze again. So...that's that. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow or if I can't sleep?

Pretty much the same experience as me.

At this stage I think I’m just going to leave it alone for a couple of weeks and check in again then.

Waiting for this 3rd..and "major" hot fix this week, hoping today?? IDK. The 3 weeks since launch, it's been mostly frustrating. For me personally it feels like a buggy beta version most of the time. I've had some decent time though on this...usually late nights, early mornings...12, 1am, 5-6am (when servers aren't as overloaded?? Just guessing.)

But WHEN it does work, the skies, lot of the trees, snow scenery is pretty awesome. *Scenery 3rd party add on's have been disabled for now...waiting for MS to bring that back. A big downfall though to much of the ground scenery, it's still using very outdated Bing maps...my area still looks exactly the same as MSFS 2020...over 12-14 years old.

They seem to use real time Aurora weather also, it showed up on the map one night last week over Iceland...but didn't the night later. Also, Solar Eclipses, nothing new in 2020...but in 2024 it's far more accurate. Turn the clock back to April 2024, (or forward for future eclipses) and you'll see the large shadow- the path of totality crossing over the same areas like it did on April 8. Also walking around is pretty amazing. (And no, you can't jump off the Grand Canyon...I tried. 😆. It's more like walking down the steep cliffs/rocks)

This has so much potential, it's just going to take a lot of updates & a lot of time to hopefully get there. TBH, Microsoft/Asobo should have waited & released this Summer 2025 at the earliest. This whole streaming the Sim from their cloud has been a major mistake IMO.

The game was already delayed and I think they just wanted it pushed out.

In the meantime I am downloading add ons for 2020 which will likely continue to have a thriving community. Would be cool if lighting or grass textures could be updated in the game.

Hello! MSFS 2020 on powerful PC (i5/Ryzen 5 + RTX 3060+) will give better graphics and stable FPS. The Xbox Series X is easier to configure and cheaper, but it doesn’t support mods and fine graphics options. For maximum experience - PC, for budget - Xbox.

Posted this in PS5 thread..

MSFS 2024 is coming to PS5 in December ... with PSVR2 support!
I saw that, and the trailer. Wow...I did NOT see that coming!!
*Edit - I only own the XBox Series X, bought that back around March 2022 specifically for the MSFS 2020...then 2024 came and for it works fine, still some bugs 10 months later but nothing like before. No issues yesterday flying into the eye of Hurricane Gabrielle.

But PS Pro, that is a more powerful console, it looks insane! AND with VR! Seriously, VR and flying around anywhere on the planet - I've seen the YouTube videos of MSFS and VR...they use a PC - I may never leave my house, LOL!

As a PS5 Pro owner, I am interested. How steep is the learning curve of this game? And it seems like it could be a massive time sink? :)
Good news: If you crash you won’t die.

There are plenty of easy tutorials and exploration flights. You can either play casually or spend many hours learning how aircraft’s work and else to fly them. The latter is more of a hobby and life journey as there is no game to “complete”.

When I bought the game on Xbox in 2020 I had zero experience flying. Now I can manually land most aircraft’s smoothly. I love playing with a glass of red wine in the evenings after a busy or stressful day.
