ROTFL.....

You have no idea about the computer industry or do can you comment on it different facets without sounding totally ignorant.

you do realize that microsoft makes most of it money from customer support largely from corporation. So unless large corporation want to drop their active directory info structure and re-purchase all their software some which doesn't run on Mac by all means think microsoft put out the virus.

Well said, Microsoft isnt worried... They are probably helping Apple to fix the issue, since they have alot of experience with it.

This bad press for apple is just what microsoft needs right now, proof that OS-X can be just as vulnerable as Windows.
It's certainly not proof that OS X can be just as vulnerable as Windows. The malware didn't actually take advantage of any security holes in the OS. Most people familiar with Mac OS X programming could have written this thing.

All this malware demonstrates is that social engineering (tricking a user into double-clicking a malicious application) is a great way to wreak havoc on any system (Mac, Windows, Linux,...).

I doubt Microsoft or any corporate entity would be involved in something like that. There's just too much at stake: it's illegal, and the press would be horrible. And sooner or later, one of the programmers would talk.

Besides, Microsoft is vulnerable on the virus front. If Microsoft was producing viruses against Apple, Apple could retaliate with a crippling Windows virus. That's not a war Microsoft wants.

I wonder what arn & company are doing to track this guy lasthope down. Has law enforcement been involved?

If we're considering conspiracies then I think it's more likely that an anti-virus company hired some geeky hacker to generate some new business for them.

I have to agree, it is unlikely MS would risk it all to create a virus. Sure it could happen, just find it difficult to believe.

Even if it were true, I highly doubt you could trace it back to MS. This risk (losing your multi-billion dollar company, not to mention the billions in stock options outstanding) just isn't worth the reward (squeezing out a 3-5% market share competitor).

I feel for you, man. Try this book.

Sounds like too much water, or maybe harvest time is off. Maybe not keeping on top of mold? A lot of things can make bad weed and lead to paranoia.

Both companies are rivals, but they both see coders who code this crap as more of an enemy, it's like they say. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Both Apple and MS have a common enemy, they would both like to see these guys banished from the earth forever. I am sure they talk frequently about how to manage this situation and get a handle on how to stop it or at least prevent it.
