Of course. Obviously,if you disconnect it, it's not going to have access to your messages but then it's not going to work either. At that point you're not using the feature
i was responding to the person who said it has access to “all” their messages. It doesn’t. He has access to incoming message notifications, that’s it.

I’d like to see it working fully. I’ve moved back to Windows and I don’t see a point in sticking with iOS if I don’t get full functionality out of it. Apple needs to do a better job supporting their products or at the very least give Microsoft the support it needs to implement this fully.

Well no, but ok. Windows machines are the machine of choice for video work. Mac used to be like 10 years ago. Windows based systems now are just so much faster than anything apple put out that most studios (besides those owned by apple) use windows systems now as they just eat through editing work. Far superior thats fan....person speak if I ever heard it. See picture posted by others.
I’ve been in the film business for 30 years. I typed that comment from a stage on universal studios where I currently work on a network television show. The only time I’ve seen a windows machine used it went very poorly for a that video playback dept. DIT never uses windows. I’ve seen VFX use windows but that’s only because they can be faster for 3d rendering, but macs rule for editing, color timing, on set video playback. Especially now with the Apple silicon which slays.

You mean there are Apple fans here? It's almost like this is an Mac forum or something 🤣
You can participate in a forum X but not be the blind fanboy of X? ;-P

(I got MPB with m1 because it's a fine piece of hardware and macOS is build atop of unix so for someone needing a well integrated shell it's a nice combination but software wise... I don't like walled garden of macOS and don't use any of the Apple apps because I consider them an utter trash :p )

Yet, there is this thing called TEAMS which replaces Skype.
Teams seems to be for enterprise, so it's in a different space. Skype (and this product) are for consumers.

Of course you could say that Skype jumped the shark when it tried to become enterprise as well as consumer and, for all I know, that is what turned it from useful product to pile of c**p.

Just like there was Skype for personal use and Skype for Business, there are also two Teams products - one for enterprise and one for personal use. They are not in a different space, whatsoever (however, Teams for Enterprise is far, far more useful than Skype, in any incarnation, ever was).

No, Teams is for both. I have teams on windows 11 and it's just like skype was, but better. Enterprise has extra options Teams for personal does not have, which is not a big deal.

I think if anyone says something positive people say you’re a fanboy. You do you because you know what works best for you or at least I hope so, but the built-in apps and features of the walled garden make the Mac basically what it is. Without those I would just use a windows PC because it would be the same thing. I feel like you somehow convince yourself that something was bad without any reason just because you think it is. I’ve had no issues with any of the apps built-in, although there are some better alternatives when it comes to some uses.

Nah, but I'm in peculiar use case and actually there are differences between OSes... I do like MBP, but I can't stand iPhone and iOS (i find it very inconvenient to use). What's more, I try to avoid "big players" so I host my own mail domain with one of the smaller providers and prefer to use calendar/tasks/contacts to use it there. The benefit is that if I want to migrate I can easily do it without much hassle. The problem is that while Apple software supports CardDAV/CalDAV it sometimes just... stops synchronisatinon. Mail wise - I tried to use Mail.app but it was forcing certain features on me (like threaded view or inability to disable mark-as-read on view if I remember correctly - it was a couple of years ago so my memory is bad). I'm not typical user I know, but I do like when the software works like I want and not to bend to some envisioned PerfectWay (had to bend myself here a bit with certain macOS features :) ).

If someone has iPhone and a mac then using apple ecosystem is wonderful as ItJustWorks. Sadly - not for me :)
