MS is just mad they dont have a cool name for their programs. "gee, let's go to the 'program store' and find some cool 'programs.''" sounds kinda lame![]()
Right, like "Windows", "Internet Explorer", "Word", and so on. What's good for Microsoft should be good for Apple.
Ugh clueless.
It's actually "Microsoft Windows," "Microsoft Internet Explorer," "Microsoft Word," etc.
Either way, Windows doesn't describe what the OS is. Neither does Word. Internet Explorer does, but there's a "Microsoft" there.
Nice try. You were only the 6th clueless hurf to post that.
"Internet Explorer," while "descriptive," wouldn't be generic, however. "Internet Explorer" is a "web browser," not an "internet explorer." Hence "Internet Explorer" could likely be trademarked by itself, particularly since it has acquired "secondary meaning" (it is associated with Microsoft).
I don't care what any of you say, Apple pioneered the App Store, what has Microsoft done? Do they even have a phone?
Maybe they can call theirs the Op Store... for phone options? I dunno. Roffle
It's already called Marketplace.
Microsoft aren't doing this to change what they call their existing stores.

If a tree falls in the woods... Marketplace, schmarketplace.![]()
I don't think you completely understand what generic trademarks are.correct. THe problem comes if Apple gets to keep the trademark on App Store prevents everyone from using App store to describe their respective App Store.
That is where the issue lies.
Btw if people want to keep going on about Windows and Word I could easily point out the word "Apple" for Apple.
Stop being so annoying. You've been proven wrong multiple times, I'd probably expect you to stop posting out of embarrassment.

It's generic if the name of the product explains or acts as a definition for what the product is. "Apple" is a fruit, so it doesn't explain what the company is or, well, that it's a company at all.
Besides, it's "Apple Incorporated" anyway, so that's not generic.
I've never been proven wrong.
Show me once where I've been wrong. I'm an insider. I know things before the likes of you could even imagine them.
Put me in my place buddy. Show me how I'm so "wrong"...
