I forgot about that. It was a Palm developed software that they also ported to Newton. Well they are long dead now. I forget who bought them, but they have clearly moved on if they aren’t dead too.

It was a bit convoluted. USRobotics bought Palm, was bought by 3Comm who later spun off Palm. The original Palm founders later started Handspring, which used PalmOS. They later merged with Palm, and eventually HP bought them and destroyed Palm. It was a shame, because they really were good devices that could be today what the iPhone/IPad are.

Scribble… isn’t that the iPadOS feature that only supports 6 languages? And will take 45 years to be available globally?

this is great - good to see this feature finally integrated into real life applications

OneNote for iPad currently has NO handwriting recognition of any kind:
No real time conversion like Scribble
No recognizing existing handwriting
No selecting something handwritten and copying as text
No replacing existing handwriting with the converted text

The only thing that Microsoft applications for Mac/iPad have in common with the Windows versions is the name.
And all of the other popular handwriting note apps only do automatic syncing to iCloud, which is permanently blocked at my work due to overseas storage of data. OneDrive would be ideal. I use my Apple Pencil very little anymore.

I still miss my old Palms. Cloudpilot is a web based emulator for Palm OS 4 and earlier that works great. I have it pinned to my Home Screen so I can still run some of my favorite programs.

That is awesome! Never knew that existed. Thanks! Somewhere in my pile of junk I believe I still have a US Robotics labeled Palm.
