First 50 folks to walk into an MS store (tomorrow, Friday, US stores) with an iPad get 365 for a year free too. Worth noting. 🙂

The "Office for iPad" news is really a non-story for most people as it requires a $99/year subscription (BOOO! HISSS!).

What IS the real news if the day is how Microsoft Office Mobile for iPhone is now completely free and doesn't require a 365 subscription to edit your word, excel, and powerpoint files!

Hope you enjoy this as much as I do 🙂

Win!

Had to check this out for myself. Just re dled to my phone, and what do ya know. Office! Insta-Home screen. Thank you, my friend. Sent from my iPhone 5.

Not sure if I get this. I can edit # my iphone with this tiny screen, but cant edit # the ipad cuz it has a bigger screen. Oh that make sense microbros.

Business sense but not common sense.🙄

Business sense often doesn't make common sense lol.

It doesn't make much sense for them to just GIVE office away to everyone. They want us all to move into their 365 system. They make more money that way. They are basically forcing people to upgrade their office yearly, but not forcing you to get a license for every computer/device you have. I believe there are also steep student discounts.

Anyway, I will try and pop in before work to get a year free. Unsure how they are handing out that promo. But I got an email about it.

Only FREE to read and edit. In order to create a new Excel or Word, document you need an Office 365 subscription. So basically it's almost worthless

You obviously dont know what you are talking about 🙄

When you open the app it has 4 tabs on the bottom with the third one being "New" which you create new documents with (without a 365 subscription).

Yup, you can create documents as well.

great if you can create also but that wasn't what was stated in any of the press announcements. I wonder if you can do new but can't save without a 365 subscription

Can anyone even amagine editing Excel documents on your iPhone?

Seems like a waste of developer time.
