On my old mid-2010 iMac I was using a shop bought version of Microsoft Office 2011, which was working but wouldn't update by the time my iMac died at the end of 2022.

I now have my new Mac Studio and I've been using OpenOffice because the latest version of Microsoft Office is subscription based and I can't justify the cost.

I've recently noticed that you can still buy the older Microsoft Office 2021 for a one-off price of under £50 and I just wanted to see if that's an option I should explore, rather than using OpenOffice, which is good but doesn't work as well as Microsoft Office.

Many thanks.

I use the Office Home and Student 2021 non- subscription version with no issues. Cost in US is about $150 though they run specials every now and then. I have tried other solutions, but always returned to office mainly because of my familiarity with Office (been using since original version).

Another for LibreOffice never had any issue with it both professionally or with compatibility. If you really want MS Office an OEM license is the way to go, maybe $35 or less.

Personally I wouldn't waste the money unless I had a real need. The retail pricing to the public for standalone was an utter joke in the past seriously a rip off. Admittedly better, likely as few would pay so much.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try out the Office 2021 option but will keep in mind LibreOffice, which I hadn't heard of before. It might be useful for someone else.

Wowcher has Microsoft Office Mac 2021 for about £50, which I've just purchased.
