If it was released free (unlikely), it would be from Microsoft's site, not from Apple.

Yes, but then again it's loading everything at once (document, spreadsheet, presentation editors, etc). MS keeps everything separate, which has its drawbacks too.

Maybe it's my poor old 1999 G4. I find NeoOffice agonizingly slow even opening files once it's booted up.

Right click on NeoOffice and select Get Info. Uncheck all except the language of your choice. It will load a little faster.

OK, that helped a bit but it still takes about 8 seconds (counting out loud 1-1000, 2-1000 etc) to load a text file once it's actually loaded. Must be my old machine. 😱
