I'm here because I own and like Apple products, AND MS, Sony, Samsung, HTC, ect. I don't limit myself to just ONE product line and worship it like a "god".

Now, who's got life?

Poster #75 explains why the Microsoft Retail store won't work.

Go read it.

Since you may not, I will summarize it for you.

Customer: I like Windows 7. Let me buy it so I can use it.
MS Clerk: You will need a computer to run it.
Customer: Ok let me buy a personal computer here too.
MS Clerk: Sorry you have to go to Best Buy.
Customer: Why am I wasting time going back and forth?

Wow, that would have ROCKED in the early 90's. No need for it now of course, unless they are going for a nostalgia vibe.

"Hey look, it's like an App Store, except the Guru downloads the image, prints a manual, burns a disc, and gives it to me to take home instead of me clicking and installing it immediately over my always on internet connection... COOL. OOOH and they have FLOPPY DRIVES in the laptops, man I *LOVED* those!!!"

The issue I see with the, "Answer Bar" is Microsoft's current limited support. Or are they going to start an all around support group like Geek Squad?

At least I hang out on the site for a product that I'm a fan of. What are you (M$ fanboy) doing (reading AND posting) on a Macrumors.com?

Got life?

No, LEX750 clearly hasn't, he posts often enough to be "MacRumors Regular".

I think most MS fanboys are even getting embarrassed by Microsoft's antics now, and this gives them some release :)

We have to let them have their quips, what else have they got to look forward to otherwise? Windows 7 SP1? by the way that should be out by now!

What do they sell?

Has any one gone to the store yet? I am just wondering what they sell other then the instant software (which is really cool).

I really like to know, do they sell X-Boxes, X-Box software/hardware, MS keyboards and mice???

NOTE: I'm not bashing the store, (yet.. I want more info before I make a judgment. ). I've only been in on Apple store and, this store from the video looks like the Apple store to me. :/

"Put a lot of work into that one, didn't ya boys... Apple stores have been around for what, 12 years? And after all this time, the only thing you've come up with is a direct copy? Well, what you lack in originality, maybe you can make up for by accosting people and screaming in their faces as they walk in the door, like a bunch of crazy idiots. You're all fired!"

I half expected at any moment, to see a jiggly Ballmer bouncing across the screen, fists clenched, red faced, voice breaking, shreiking, streaking possibly, jaw agape, one eye shut from the brain hemmorage over the excitement that they actually managed to open something as mind-bogglingly difficult as... a retail store in a mall. And a complete copy of their competitors at that. Maybe a little foaming at the mouth. ...a string of drool whipping around strung over everyone, at very least.

I love seeing big companies, capable of so much, do so little. Gives us little guys hope.

This store looks nearly like an Apple Store. Only in Apple Stores there's like ten times more clients than employees. Here it's the other way round...

Simply deplorable, shameful and embarrassing of Microsoft to virtually steal all of Apple M.O. From the employees clapping down the line of fanboy walk of shame to the the entire layout of the store with the laptops on the tables, just like the Apple store. BIG FAIL.

It's a little strange that the store is so crowded yet no one is looking at the displays. What-EVERRRR...

I find it really lame that MS is trying to copy Apple so closely. They are far too obsessed with Apple. Apple compares itself to Microsoft in order to achieve differentiation, as a niche player should; but for Microsoft to return the favor just elevates Apple to an equal. It would make sense for MS to try to emulate the iPod with Zune, but it's a mistake for them to obsess on the Mac. Oh, well... this really plays nicely into Apple's hands... innovate, wait for MS to copy, then innovate some more...

What an embarrasment. Consumers are wise enough to realize it's a copy cat idea. What message does this send out to the general public? Such desperation.

What a logistical nightmare.

Look at the holes in the table for power supplies and security. Do you realize... the Dell Inspiron can plug in here but ONLY here, the HP must go there, or we need to reroute the power supplies... This one has Aero interface, not this one... eleven different trackpad styles and gestures on two tables of twelve laptops I'll bet... This one? Ninety day parts and labor, carry-in. This one? On-site, one year labor, two years parts. Upgrade to three years? $199 on this one from Acer. $219 on this one from Dell. This one has a third-party service plan, $240, but it's only honored at these locations.

Nightmarish.
