also Vista is more visually stunning than OSX for people that are NEW to computers

Hmmm. is that verified an independent test?

the 2d mousewheel, multi touch touch pad, hot corner apps and ctrl-zoom on the new works £700 macbook seem to impress those I have shown.

Not played with Vista - what visually stunning things am I missing out on?

That kids still a fairy.

i highly doubt his sextual preference has anything to do with why Macs are a ripoff to the standard user and you get way more for your money if you go elsewhere (even sony, sony is a ripoff as well but you STILL get more)

EDIT: come to think of it, i guess computers can be compared as food.

with $5 (mac) i get a hambuger with fries and NO drink
with $5 (brand name PC) i get a hambuger, fries and a soft drink
with $5 (selfbuilt) i get a Double Cheese burger, curley fries, softdrink and desert.

the hambuger is exacaly the same (intel core2duo vs intel core2duo)

the Aero Desktop, heres a youtube video (video recorded at low Framerate, its much smoother if you look at it in real life)

BTW Aero and Aqua both suck ass compared to Compiz fusion.

what.... no argument with numbers? tell me why the mac is a better buy...

anyways i build my own computers that outperform both of them anyways. dell is just an example because dell is as EASY to buy as a Mac (both you can get buy walking into SuxBuy)

teh point is. i don´t need or want to tell you what to buy. i´m just here because the whole thing amuses me and because i´d be here anyway since i´m interested in macrumors, being a mac user.

these are just tools. all of them. i use mine because i get my job done well with my machines and have a great time doing so. that´s all.

Well built hardware designed by the same company that builds a great OS.

It is all designed to work together. And residual values reflect how well they are built to last.

From a personal POV they are just more satisfying to use, and I use both every day.

I'm a little confused. In the last two adds, Apples have been praised (sexy, cool). The only point they are driving home is that other brands offer cheaper alternatives, which is something everyone knows already.

Guess you didn't get the point that Apple's don't play games and that they don't have blue-ray. It screamed pretty damn loud in that commercial.

This is just getting stupid

What a load of nonsense. If Microsoft keep this up they will not get themselves out of the Vista mess. I think consumers with any brain cells will eventually figure out that there is no substance here, no mention of the basic inadequacies of Windows and any accurate comparison. Yes Apple's price brackets sit above the average PC but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Maybe Apple should get these same people from the same agency and have them actually use a mac for a few days and then ask them if it's worth the difference.

Its an improvement on XP - but cycling through the open windows in a stack seems less useful than minimising them all like osx has been doing.

I will take it that it does flow more smoothly, because the mac does it brilliantly.

and as i say, mousewheel zoom, hot corner expose and quicklook do seem to make life easier rather than just impress.

Your argument falls flat on so many ears. Like me, yours are tools. Mine are tools. I make a living with them and a little extra cost is worth it for the comfort.

For others, they are either toys or conveniences they don't REALLY need ( a sexy laptop for example). In this economy, that is going to hit home.

Just like the I'm a mac ads, which pointed out the pluses of macs in many many many ways, expect these ads to do the same.

Bottom line - the market for toys and conveniences might be bigger than the market for tools. Good tools cost more, but they're an extra people are probably not prepared to pay for this go around.

There was one about Time Machine.

Otherwise it was the standard "LOL VISTA IS TEH PHAIL" and "LOL WINDOWS CRASHES AND HAS VIRUSES" yawnfest fare. Not that I expect much from either camp.

Even the people that know vista is a mess don't think about Apple as an alternative. When you have software already, switching is a big deal. They complain about vista, but they know the kinks will work out. Just like the switch to osx. I have to think that was a bigger mess. Or maybe the switch to usb AND the dropping of scsi at at the same time! The interesting thing is they think it's easier to focus on Apple than it is to focus on vista.

Is it not EXACTLY what the mac ads said? All this money goes to marketing, and this little pile goes to fixing vista. I'm seeing a lot of money in the marketing pile here!

Is anyone winning this great internet debate?
Anyone who is going wakes up with a hot wife or a machine they love half as much.

Be it pc or mac - we all gotta get along with our day.

Vaio? Nice.

I've always maintained that if I decided to ditch Mac I'd get a Vaio.

Not that it's going to happen anytime soon though.
