Some iPad users may want to work in “clamshell” mode (i.e. with the connected monitor as their only screen, and a connected mouse/trackpad and keyboard as their only input) and now they can also take Teams calls this way too.
Regrettably, external cameras, microphones, and speakers do not function in clamshell mode on an iPad when using the Magic Keyboard. This issue is not Microsoft’s responsibility, as it is also present in Apple’s FaceTime application.

Alternatively, if the iPad is positioned next to the monitor, it is crucial to ensure that the iPad is not inadvertently entering sleep mode. Face ID authentication will trigger sleep mode when you looking at the monitor only the hole time.

The LAST thing I want to install on my iPad is anything Microsoft!
You are right that anything Microsoft does provide everything that you might possibly need, hence you won’t need to install anything else afterwards.

I wonder why this isn’t an iPadOS-level feature, like switching between on-screen and external keyboard.

I use teams but I am not putting that electron junk on my iPad Pro. Teams is literally one of the worst app you can install. I have to coz of work, what a mess.
1) The iPad app never used Electron.
2) The desktop version of Teams is no longer using Electron either.

Good to see the support for external cameras. Will be helpful for those who use Teams on iPad. I prefer using it on MacBook

In my opinion, this feature is a level feature of iPadOS, as it has been available since at least Version 17. FaceTime has had this feature since then, but Microsoft has not implemented it.
This summer, I accidentally discovered that it was working. I am unsure whether it was a feature of iPadOS 18 Beta or not. However, it is strange that Microsoft announced it with 18.2.
Neither FaceTime nor Teams allow you to switch the camera like you can on macOS.

My point is that Microsoft shouldn’t have to implement anything, like apps don’t have to implement anything to support an external keyboard. Switching the camera should be an iOS-level UI operation that the app can be agnostic of, similar to switching audio output between speaker, Bluetooth audio devices, AirPlay, etc.
