Come on guys don't feed the trolls.

Let's get back to the wearable discussion.

This is what I am afraid of. I am pretty petite, and I am afraid it is going to look monstrous on my little wrist.

It's not bad on a small wrist. I picked one up an hour ago and it's OK to wear and look at. No Apple Watch in looks mind you, but I bought it for the fitness stuff (specifically optical HRM).

I'll return it if the API isn't open though so I can use my own app to access it. Right now it requires you to use their app, which sends your health data to the cloud. Not cool.

Can you post some pictures of it on your wrist? Im thinking of driving out to go look at one,but the store is an hour a way.

Looks interesting, but I thought of one thing as far as the sleep tracking goes.. If it lasts 48 hours (which is great), one would have to charge it every other night, which means you can only track your sleep half the time. Alternatively, you'd have to charge it during the day. Neither is really ideal.

Not until the App Store. I used many Windows Mobile phones and they were superior to the original iPhone, with the original OS. It wasn't much of a phone until they released the version of iOS with the App Store.

iPhone was the first widely-known phone with a touchscreen keyboard and no physical keyboard. Mutli-touch really changed the way companies looked at the smartphone market.

To all the people saying this is just another Zune/Kin, remember Microsoft was very late to the music player market(6 years), smartphone(4 years). This time they actually have launched in a NEW product category months ahead of Apple with a compelling product and platform. That is new for Microsoft. Remember, they have been working on this for 3 years. That doesn't sound reactive. 3 years ago I never even thought about smart bands.

The batteries are stored in the strap, as shown in the exploded view. Look at the the straps on the side: They are much thicker than they should be due to this.

So much for customization, non-chunky straps, adjust-ability, etc.

Sorry, but my first thought is "Why can't the Apple Watch do all that and last 48 hours?"

Well to be honest we don't actually know that yet... First of all this is marketing "48 hours"... They might be as true as Lenovos "10 hours battery life" on my laptop - Which isn't near 10 hours at all.

And the Apple Watch hasn't been released yet, so it might be just as good or close - we'll have to wait and see.

On MSBand and other apps: we’re talking to a number of potential partners on getting their apps connected—stay tuned here as well.

Very encouraging. This is not just a "let's launch it and forget about it". MS is 1000% committed to making this the best fitness platform on the planet. Ballsy going up against Apple like this.

Damn, the Cortana integration is sweet. First impressions is this #MicrosoftBand is very cool and high quality.

Sweet.

Meh.

Please. If you believe this board, you'll believe iPhone 6 is the ugliest phone in the world, the band at the back is so hideous nobody would wanna buy it, the iPhone 6+ bends just by putting it in the pocket, so on and so forth.
Please stop this "I'm in the middle ground, I'm so objective unlike these sheep" nonsense. We're not babies who can't see through things, you know.
I didn't say you can't criticize Apple. I just want it to have a little bit of intelligence, which right now most of the times in the news discussion here it is lacking, not unlike Engadget or the Verge so to speak.

Engadget and the Verge. Okay, I disagree completely but okay. Forgive me, but I have no idea what you mean with the bolded portion of your comment. Are you saying someone has to be all in on Apple to be an Apple fan? Them or us? I really don't understand the we're not babies comment. What does that relate to? I'm not being sarcastic. I really don't know what you mean.

Very surprised by the positive coverage in The Verge and Engadget. Waiting to see what Sarah Lane on TWIT will say later today, as she loves these kind of devices.

I know this was directed at someone else but here are some pics from when I was at the store

I hope they built in a portrait display orientation mode as well.

We already learned that need from the Gear Fit, which also started out with just landscape mode.

Landscape is often hard to read on a wrist.

Actually I don't want the screen constantly rotating on me. I hope it's locked to landscape.

It is locked to landscape. The device is meant to go under your wrist so you rotate your wrist to view. It's surprisingly convenient.

When you have a moment, could you post a hands on?
Mine gets here tomorrow & I wanna know what I’ve just gotten myself into! lol
Thanks, man!

I should be able to later today.

Pics don't look too bad.

Huh...if someone had told me this morning when I woke up that I would be stoked to go check out a new fitness band from Microsoft this afternoon, I would have laughed at them....

The times they are a changin', it's Blowin' in the Wind.

Ok, enough Bob Dylan references.

Sure there are haters as witnessed on this thread and other comment threads on other sites(Apple Insider, Cult of Mac, CNet). Overall it seems reaction is quite positive. Especially the near fawning Verge article which is new.

How comfortable is the band on your wrist? Any poking into bones?

Apparently you can choose from 156 backgrounds.

For me it wasn't comfortable. I really wanted to buy it. I switch back and forth between a Garmin Vivosmart and Polar Loop, which are rounded comfortable bands. The "Band" was to flat on the display size. The problem with he band is that they had to cram so many sensors into the entire thing that it ends up sacrificing comfort.
This pic I think does a good job of showing the flatness/bulkiness of the band.
I really thought it would not be comfy to sleep in.

Microsoft has been deballmerized. Maybe now they'll actually do something right.
Make for a nice change, it would.

It fully charges in 1.5 hours. So put it on the charger each morning while in the shower and getting ready for work, you are taking it off anyway. I would think that would be enough charge to fill it for the day.

Awesome! Thanks. I just called my 2 stores and they both sold out! So they placed an order for me and I will get it tomorrow =) Came with a Zagg Screen Protector and a 5 Dollar starbucks gift card.
