Microsoft Word 2004 errors

Hi

I have installed Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac on my G4 running OS X 10.4.8
but when I try to open it I get the error messages:
'The font "(font name)" is corrupt and should be removed'
for fonts installed on my system.

I have tried loads of different things but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any ideas or solutions please?
