I saw it today during the Redskins game on NBC. If I hadn't read the rumors on here beforehand, I would have been EXTREMELY confused why Sienfeld and Gates were in a Shoe commercial. As it stands, I'm just somewhat confused. I knew it was a Windows commercial from the start just because of the cast, but I still don't get what they are advertising...

Delicious? It didn't mention Vista at all. VERY odd.

A warm and fuzzy attempt to repair a brand hated by almost everybody, which says absolutely nothing whatsoever.

I think the point of the commercial is to show Microsoft relaxed and jovial...

and to remind everyone that it's middle-aged by using aged sitcom comedians, and that people that stood in line for Windows 95 are 13 years older.

Unbelievable!

All this ad is going to do is sell fictional shoes, because when you try to print in Windows and it fails, you're going to need new shoes to walk the hand-written memo over to your colleague on the other side of the office.

Microsoft *needs* to get their money back from this unmitigated fiasco. In fact, that's being too generous. There aren't words strong enough to describe how badly this ad fails on every level.

I hate Microsoft, and yet my heart weeps for them...

entertaining... but what is it about and why do they flash thier logo like apple does at the end of their commericals?

Terrible

My brain hurt at the sheer uselessness of that ad. Took too long to say absolutely nothing.

So, in short:

$10 M? they should have dumped that wad of cash into R&D to make vista not suck so much anymore.

It was random and I like random.

I'm a mac addict to the last, but I don't hate MS (I love my Xbox 360, after all), so I was willing to watch.

Moderately creative and totally non sequitor. Bill Gates wasn't nearly as wooden as he might have been.

No, it didn't sell Vista. I don't think it was trying to sell Vista. It's an effort to make the average folk think favourably about MS.

All in all, better than another car, viagra or cell phone commercial.

i thought bill did a great job for not being an actor. good move by MS imo.

What I don't get is why Bill is involved, when he so recently and publicly withdrew from the day-to-day operations. It's Balmer that really needs an image make-over.
Disagree here. While Balmer may be in charge now, Bill Gates is the image of Microsoft.

wait, I get it, Conquistador=Vista

He is trying on 'shoes' (different versions of vista) and the fit is 'tight' (performance/usability limited), Circus Clown Club (Microsoft).
A stretch for sure, but it actually makes sense ... or does it.

If I knew nothing about computers, I would think that the ad was related to shoes or what Shoe Circus has to offer.

On a side note, I am not a fan of Seinfeld at all. I must admit, that he was at least tolerable in the ad.

Wtf?!?

Maybe I am tired-but it was LAME and I don't get it-it doesn't even mention Windows (which may not be a bad thing)-but it sure as hell doesn't make me want to go out and buy a PC either...

Wow, that is the worst ad ever!

Bad jokes, terrible lines, awkward silence, and NOTHING about their product.

Wow... just, wow...

Matthew

ok... i guess

I watched this and almost thought it was a fake! I think they are trying to get bill and jerey to look like friends. When I saw the ending I though this is horrible but now that I think about it, it's better than most ads.

also it's kinda nice there not like shoving BUY VISTA in your face

huh???

So the point of the campaign is to prove bill gates has a sense of humor? I thought that had been established.

I guess the hope is this goes viral or something, but right now I'm just scratching my head.
