Mid 07 Mac Mini ram question....

I have read a few places that people have been successful going up to 4gb of ram in the mid 07 mini but as per apple's specs the max you can put in is 2gb.

My question is has anyone upgraded their 07 mini to 4gb and did you have any issues running?

You can install 4GB but only 3.3GB will be visible to the OS.

Does that mean the system will only utilize the ram it sees or will it use all 4gb?

Only the RAM it sees. The address space for the remaining RAM is not available to the OS. This is a chipset limitation and appears both in OSX and Windows.

So I ended up going with a Crucial 4gb upgrade kit and the system views all 4 gb, Parallels performance is up a bunch which is pretty much the primary reason I wanted more ram. Just wanted to let you guys know... 😎
