Just wondering if this is normal...

On my mid-2009 13" MBP, if I have an SD card mounted and then insert or remove a USB device, the card is unceremoniously dismounted (dropped, actually) as though the hub is being reset. Anybody else have this issue and is there a fix/workaround?
