Hello everyone. First time poster here. I just purchased a mid 2009 MacBook Pro and want to be able to play movies from my computer to tv. I have read that the Mini DisplayPort will not send audio to the tv. The other option I looked at was Apple TV but the Airplay mirror option will not work with my model. With these restrictions what are the possible solutions? Thanks in advance.

On your particular model no (mid-2010 Macs on down do though). You'll either have to connect the audio into a stereo receiver or use an HDMI audio inserter.

I use the first one:

So with that adapter you connect it to the Mini Display port and a USB slot on the side of the macbook? Then it's just an HDMI to the Tv?
