Hi guys.

Recently, my right fan started producing this grinding sound. It can be described as always being there, gets louder and worse when the fans pick up speed, and has an inconsistent, grinding/rattling quality. Sometimes, there is no grinding noise at all. Fan speeds are as per normal (SMCfancontrol) @ 2000rpm for both sides. Increasing left fan speed: No change in noise; increasing right fan speed: spawn of satan.

I've opened up my MacBook, and used a vacuum cleaner on the fans, and gave a little wipe. The noise is still there tho. Im going to purchase a compressed air can to try to see if that helps.

Any advise on what else I should do?

Thanks!

The price varies on ebay from about $10 to about $100.
There are loads of them though.
