Hello

My imac keeps crashing / has become slow

I have used disk utility which has not helped

I think I will now have to resort to re installing and starting fresh with clean OSX

Question: How to I resintalled OSX? I have done some researching and am a bit confused. If I put the Operating System CD that came with the computer, I will then have a really old version? Can I reupgrade to the latest version I currently have? Is there another / easier way?

Also, any suggesting on how I can keep my apple office / microsoft office packages? I no longer have the CD / key as them came as a student package with friends

Cheers
Andy

Your post is pretty incomplete and I suspect you may have a HD problem that you have not uncovered. Boot into the Recovery Partition (Command + R) and open Disk Utility. Run Verify Disk 2-3 times back to back. If errors appear that clearly indicates an issue. Next run Repair Disk the same way (2-3 times BBB) and if errors appear after the 2nd-3rd pass, your HD has been confirmed as damaged and in need of replacement.

If both tests pass with no errors, post an EtreCheck report of your system and we can look for obvious problems. Google EtreCheck and you will find it.

Thank you for the reply. I did the above and did not notice any errors on verify disk.

Have put etrecheck results below, any help would be great
