I get conflicting info on the web and on the machine, so I'll ask the users here.

I have a 13" mid 2010 i5 2.5GHz pro. EDIT: I have 2012 model, not 2010! Rest of this thread void as I'm an idiot.

It has mini display port but system profiler says it's thunderbolt at 10Gb/s x2

online says it's not thunderbolt.
Im inclined to believe the online as one of the sites was actual apple site!

It's only that wanted use some adaptors (not with me at moment) I was using on my air which did have thunderbolt. Also a friend has a thunderbolt drive which be great if can directly connect to copy some data from.

It does not have Thunderbolt, according to MacTracker. Thunderbolt first appeared on the MacBook Pro in 2011. I suspect you’re misreading the System Profiler.
