So I'll be using my MBP to do whatever and all of a sudden the screen will go totally black and the computer becomes completely unresponsive. If any media was playing - audio will rapidly skip. Fan remains on and keyboard stays lit (if it was lit) - but the computer is dead. Only thing I can do is hold down the power button to force it off and then turn it back on. Then I get the now all too familiar "your computer shut down because of a problem" or whatever it says, when I start up the computer again. This can happen at any time when I'm doing just about anything - it happened a few hours ago when all I was doing was chatting on gchat on gmail....had a few tabs open. After I restarted the computer, it happened within minutes AGAIN. It happens most often either right after or soon after I've clicked on a video online. If I'm watching something or have any program full-screen, this will happen within 15-30 minutes practically without fail. sometimes much sooner. But like I said, it can happen when I'm not even watching a video at all. I tried to get this fixed at least once before. I brought in my MBP into the genius bar somewhere between 8-11ish months ago and told them of my issue. They did a OS re-install and replaced my RAM. I didn't immediately notice, but the problem gradually came back and has even gotten worse. Stupid me I didn't go back there before my apple care expired. (it expired in may). Any thoughts on what this might be and if there's anything I can do? I'd hate to pay hundreds to get it "repaired" only to find out again that it's not really fixed. It's more than 3 years old at this point, time to buy a new laptop?
