I want to upgrade to an SSD, increase memory. Please recommend products, sizes etc. How much should I expect to pay to have a mac repair guy do it. Also I'd want my current hdd put in an external case. The new SSD should have latest OS eyc.

MID-2010 MINI UPGRADE QUESTIONS

The Mid 2010 model has only got a SATA 2 interface so there's little bonus to be had buying the latest and greatest Sata 3 models such as the Samsung 850 Pro.
The Samsung 850 EVO should be good value. I'd recommend 512Gb or even 1Tb if you can afford it. The 1Tb version apparently uses the multi-core-controller from the 850 Pro series.
As for RAM, I'd check out crucial.com for prices.
I'd say put in 8gb of ram and a crucial or Samsung SSD, size depends on your needs
Honestly, this is not a yellow pages. The apple website will list authorized repair stores. Contact a couple near you and ask about the cost to install a samsung ssd. Size depends on how you use your machine. Minimum would be 256GB.
Got it all done -- 256 gb crucial ssd installed with el capitan on it, 8gb memory installed, old hdd placed in enclosure, -- all for $95. Hardware cost me about $140.
