So I've decided to finally upgrade the 1TB HD on my 2.7GHz 27" mid 2011 iMac to a SSD. While researching what is the fastest/best SSD to upgrade to I noticed several threads about various upgrades, including the CPU, GPU, Wireless, on and on. So, given that upgrading the hard drive gets me into the system, I figured I'd determine what is worthwhile upgrading at once while I'm in there. Is it true that if I upgrade the GPU and wireless I can get a newer macOS than 10.13 High Sierra?
I could use some advice on planning this upgrade. A long time ago I already installed 32 GB of 1333 MHz ram, so i think I'll leave that, unless I hear that 1867 MHz ram is really a big difference. I feel comfortable with upgrading the CPU as well to an i7-2600. All the rest is what is confusing. Thanks in advanced.
By the way, for a bit I was thinking of retiring the iMac and using it as an external monitor for a MacBook air, but for whatever reason the f2/command display mode doesn't work.
