Mid 2011 27inch iMac Screen problems

Hello everyone,
As of today Nov 4 my iMac has started having screen problems. The icons on the desktop have started to flicker about once or twice a minute and if I attempt full screen video playback wether streamed or off the hdd it will play for 30 sec then kick back to the desktop. Any insight would be appreciated - might be time for a new iMac?
