    Hey all,

I had a terrible bluetooth problem on my Mac Pro, as I read that others have as well. I originally fixed this by purchasing a cheap Kinivo bluetooth adapter that I plugged in via USB to my keyboard. It worked great!

Only problem is that I just updated to Mavericks from Snow Leopard (skipped Lion altogether) and now my Bluetooth mouse problem is back! It appears as if the bluetooth adapter isn't registering anymore or something?

Before, after a restart, I would get an error message saying no bluetooth devices could be found. Then a secondary pop-up (I believe from Kinivo) would say "Magic Mouse is requesting to pair" or something like that, and then it would connect right away. I'm not getting either of those messages now which leads me to believe that perhaps the bluetooth adapter is no longer being recognized and it's reverting back to the internal bluetooth adapter in the tower.

    Please help! Thank you!

I also use the Kinivo BT Dongle. If it's working, it will be blinking a steady blue blink when the device (in my case a Microsoft Laser Mouse) is paired, when the mouse is working the blinking will speed up. If it's not working, it will be dark. You can select which BT source you want to use with Apples's utility, Bluetooth Explorer. If you don't know how to get it, look at this thread:

The message you are seeing is from the Apple OS trying to pair, not from the Dongle.

Thank you! This worked. I had been using Bluetooth Explorer before but it turns out that I had an old version of it installed on my computer. When I followed your instructions to download the most recent version from the developer package, it worked like a charm!
