Hi Folks,
i‘ve just gotten my 2012 MacBook air back from my daughter, she’s gone ipad, and I’m really struggling with it. I gave this to my daughter about 4 years ago when I went all in on the iPad myself, it I loved it at the time. When I was using it I had all my mail accounts, notifications for Facebook messenger and it ran for me just like my iPad does now. I know it’s old machine but since I reset it and upgraded to Mojave it’s shockingly good for a 9 year old computer. I only want to use it now in my shed and should’ve just been happy with an internet and YouTube machine, but hey🤷🏼‍♂️, now it’s up and running I want it back the way it was. I can’t add some mail accounts and can’t remember or see the option of logging onto Facebook on it? The battery is shot! It needs to be plugged in, which is fine, I’ll not be taking it anywhere. Can anybody help me to set this all up again?

Not sure what you're looking for.. If you've wiped it and upgraded it to Mojave, you should be able to add any email account in System Preferences-Internet Accounts.. As far as FB signing etc.. I've only ever used Safari web browser. I don't think there's an app for FB on Mac.. So as far as FB notifications, I'm guessing email?.. I don't use FB anymore anyway, so not sure what to tell you..

My macbook air from 2010 is running great on Mojave and everything you need is through Safari or another web browser. Just make sure you can enable certain cookies and allow site permissions for the webpage you frequently visit using the privacy and security tabs in Safari.
we really dont have old machines were ours can do most anything in 2021 and then some!

Yeah, I've been thinking about going back to Mojave on this. 2tb.. I still have it on the original 128gb drive.. but I like dark mode.. I think that was pretty much the only reason I updated to Catalina..

Catalina could be your struggle, since the OSX only runs 64bit apps.
unless you fixed the internet and web preferences today.
the battery is easy to replace and can be found anywhere, but i would use OWC in the USA if possible.

Catalina isn't a struggle.. works fine.. I have the 2tb ADATA and a new battery.. I'm set with this for several more years..

that is good, is everything back to normal?
Yeah, always was pretty much, until last Sunday when I fried my original I bought 2 years ago. I found another one on FB and bought it Tuesday, slapped the 2tb into it and it turned out I didn't fry that, so that was good.. and this newer one is in better shape than the other one.. just wish I didn't have to blow all that money again..but it beats buying a new one..
