Hi guys,

I'm having an issue with the battery not charging on my mid 2012 Macbook Pro. The battery cycle is 307 and is in "Normal" condition but won't charge. The charger light stays green the laptop only works when the charger plugs in.

Strangely, the macbook automatically turns on as soon as the charger is plugged in also. It does not turn on when using the power button so I cannot reset the SMC. I've reset the PRAM with no luck.

I was previously using an aftermarket charger and it resulted in burnt pins on 1 and 5 of the port. The port was also replaced about 3 months ago. I'm now using an official apple charger and battery.

Charge Information:
Charge Remaining (mAh): 2092
Fully Charged: No
Charging: No
Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4806
Health Information:
Cycle Count: 307
Condition: Normal
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 10937

Sounds like the charger killed the ground & DC connections - what happens when you try and turn the MagSafe connection 180º?

Hi mate,

thanks for replying. Sorry, I meant pins 1 and 5 on the port were burnt. The same thing happens regardless of the charger direction.

To be clear, did you try SMC reset? SMC reset itself does not involve, or require, powering up, so as long as you can shut down while still plugged in, you can theoretically do an SMC reset.

Hi mate,

Yes I've tried but the power button doesn't turn it on. It only turns on when the power cable is plugged in. It turns on automatically as soon as it's plugged in.
