I have a 16" 2019 Intel-based MBP I purchased in August 2020. It's a CTO (I opted for 32GB RAM and a 2TB HD), and cannot find anywhere how to tell if my computer is considered a mid-2019 MBP or a late-2019 MBP.

My Google-and-search-Fu is failing (I must be searching wrong, because I can't even find it in the forum).

Everything I've come across only gives me the generic "2019 MacBook Pro" label (including both Mactracker and Coconut Battery). I've been able to find the Model Identifier, but that still doesn't give me much (16,1 vs 16,4). I came across one (and only one) website that tells you how to find the logic board, and then compare it against a table on their website which is the ONLY place I can find it coming up as a "late-2019" model - but they don't have "Mid-2019" listed on their table.

The question comes up because I was curious as to the trade-in value, where Apple does differentiate between "Mid-2019" and "Late-2019," but doesn't help me figure out which model I have. It's a $200 difference in Trade-in value.

Again, this started out as mere curiosity (Yes, I could probably get more if I sold it outright, and I'm still not sure I'm parting with it yet), but after spending four days trying to find this information anywhere, I'm on a mission 🤣🤣🤣.

Can anyone point me at a thread or a website or anything to help me figure out whether or not this is a "Mid-2019" or "Late-2019" model (Model Identifier comes up as 16,1 - which doesn't tell me anything, System settings also aren't showing it unless I'm not looking in the right place, which IS possible).

These are all the 2019 MBP. Some SKUs of the same display size had different introduction dates due to differing dGPUs.

From your list, it looks like there's no such thing as a "Mid-2019" 16" MBP (and based on the model Identifier, mine would fall in the 13 Nov 2019 range). Also, thank you for the break down. I'd come across that site multiple times, but had some difficulty with it

More digging turned up this article on Apple's own discussion page from 2021 regarding the same thing, so between the two ... it's the higher value of the two.

I just wish it was easier to find for the custom configs. If I hadn't done that, it'd pop up just fine.

There really arent any mid 2019 MBP 16". There is a mid 2019 MBP 15".

Personally. I wish I kept to my 2011 MBP 13" then bought into a 2021 MBP 16".

I finally let got of my 2015 15" MBP that was running High Sierra so I could keep using CS4; the only thing I've used it for over the last 3 years is to charge my phone when I'm multiple days w/o power because I live in Texas & they can't seem to keep the power on when it gets cold outside.

I am, however, kinda eyeing the new 15" MBA. I'm no longer editing photos, and really only browse the internet with it, and Intel-to-M2 seems like a fair jump.

Still not completely sold yet, though.

Imagine jumping from a 32nm Intel non-SoC to a 5nm Mac SoC. lol

Anyone obsessed with e-waste should just sell their decade+ old Mac to a collector.
